RUDOLF KOLISCH
PAUL BADURA-SKODA

Schubert:

Sonata for Piano and Violin in A major D 574
Sonata for Piano and Violin in
G minor D 408
Fantasia
for Piano and Violin in C major D 934

recorded live at the University of Madison, Wisconsin,
9 May 1966

Rudolf Kolisch was artist in residence at the University of Madison since 1946, when the pianist Paul Badura-Skoda was invited  in 1966 as a guest professor.  Both of them are of Viennese origin and became friends during this time. Their common interest were questions of history and esthetics of musical interpretation. Thus, this performance of Schubert sonatas proves the insight of two Viennese musicians within their very special tradition.

archiphon gratefully acknowledges the support given for this issue by Prof. Badura-Skoda and the University of Madison, Wisconsin.
